The * (Misc) Menu

This chapter describes the Faximum * (Miscellaneous) menu.

As shown in Figure 104, there are four items in this menu.

Shell

This enables you to jump to the operating system command shell.

Time of Day

This displays a continually updated date and time message.

Refresh Screen

This clears and redraws the entire screen.

About Faximum

This displays the release level of the software, as well as the version and capabilities of your license.

Shell

This function permits you to escape to an operating system shell session without terminating Faximum. This permits standard UNIX commands to be entered; when the user terminates the shell (by typing Ctrl D or exit), the Faximum user interface restarts.

There is no indication that you have jumped to the shell, so be sure to return to Faximum before logging off or leaving your desk for any extended period. Otherwise, you may inadvertently try to restart Faximum from the shell. If you are not sure where you are, typing Ctrl D will either return you to Faximum or log you off.

Time of Day

This function displays a continuously updated date and time message. Important birthdays or special holidays (such as the national day of Finland) will be displayed here (see Figure 105).

Refresh Screen

This function permits you to redraw the screen if it becomes garbled. You may also type Ctrl R anywhere in Faximum to refresh a corrupted screen.

About Faximum

This function displays the current release level of the software and information on the capabilities of this installation (i.e., number of users and lines supported) as shown in Figure 106.
